Let’s see some Pelham Blue SG’s

Thanks for the feedback, it seems that this may be a common issue with pickguards on CS. I also have a Wildwood Spec ‘61 and it exhibits the same fitment issues. https://www.everythingsg.com/threads/custom-shop-pickguard-problem.16959/page-2 Honestly, I hate to mess with relief and bridge...

    Removing Knobs?

I use a shoelace, sometimes some slight rocking back and forth on the knobs before pulling helps them to loosen up just a bit.

NGD! Historic Custom Shop 61’ (looking for correct tone knob)

Those look pretty close but I’m afraid that they are more “aged” than the guitar.

NGD! Historic Custom Shop 61’ (looking for correct tone knob)

Hey All, I recently purchased this 2010 Custom Shop 61’! She’s a real beauty as the Pelham Blue is just starting to get a greenish tint from the aging nitro. One of the knobs was busted a little so I went on a search for the replacement. I couldn’t find a Gibson branded replacement with the...

    Grounding issue puzzle?

So my luthier replaced the push/pull pots and “cleaned up the wiring” while he was in there. Problem solved, she’s as quiet as a church mouse in any configuration. Thanks to everyone for the input.

Should I Repair or Not? AY Thunderstruck

So my luthier is Sam Eakins at Elite Strings and from the feedback from this post, I think I will document the damage and take it to him for repair. Should any questions arise from a future buyer I will be able to provide the “before” . Thanks for the responses.

Should I Repair or Not? AY Thunderstruck

Hey Guys, I have an AY Thunderstruck that is in excellent condition except for a chip in the finish but not into the wood and a couple of cable dents to the lacquer. I bought this as a playable investment and would like to know your thoughts: If I have this chip professionally repaired by a...

Tailpiece height preferences, and touch up Pelham Blue paint recommendations

Yes, it’s a sticker that Gibson places over or maybe it comes on top of the insert, presumably to keep it from getting paint /nitro on it. Just take the tail piece off and using a very small flathead screwdriver you can press around the edges of the sticker and it will separate / break away from...

    Grounding issue puzzle?

It has the stock pickups, I didn’t make changes but can’t speak to the previous owner unless he modded and returned the stock pickups. The soldiering doesn’t appear to be “redone”.

    Grounding issue puzzle?

If it had broken wouldn’t the guitar show signs in any selected position? Again this only happens when neck volume knob has been pulled up in the coil split position, that is what has me confused.

    Grounding issue puzzle?

I’ve removed the jack and it was pretty sloppy but I’ve sorted it and pulled the wiring that was stuffed into it back into the cavity. I re-soldiered the ground and bare wires back into the tone pot for good measure making sure everything was nice and hot. I also heated up the bridge ground...

    Grounding issue puzzle?

    Grounding issue puzzle?

So here the cavity of another SG Modern that I found on this site. The wiring is a little different looking from what I can see but nothing that I can see if a major difference?

    Grounding issue puzzle?

Pic of the control cavity before I did my soldering.

    Grounding issue puzzle?

I picked up a used SG Modern and did a deep cleaning (removing bridge and tail piece post as part of the strip down). It’s all back together with a fresh set up, plays like a dream with one exception. When the neck pickup is in single coil mode (coil split by pulling up on the neck volume knob)...
