    Altered tunings

How do you get the second string to tune to an E?

    Altered tunings

All sorts of stuff and simplifying the fingering sounds good to me. I've got my guitar tuned to DADGAD and have been nurdling around. Trying some finger placements and seeing how things sound. Maybe I should learn some diatonic chords in the key of D next. But for now I like what's sounding...

    Altered tunings

Do you use DADGAD specifically for Folk/Celtic style of songs/tunes.....or do you incorporate it into modern pop/rock/r&b stuff?

    Altered tunings

Does anyone here play regularly in altered tunings? I'm considering giving it a try (DADGAD seems to be a popular one). Is there an 'easier' tuning for someone who wants to try from standard? Thanks.

    Tuneomatic bridge problem

I bought this as back up just in case the current one (that I made an amateurish attempt to fix) bails out on me. So far so good though. Da*n! Pic is too large to upload and I don't know how to change it. Edit.....I've put the problematic photo as my Avatar.

Small amp for unleashing the Sabbath terror!

I play through a Vox Mini 5 modeller amp and it gives me enough sound choices between Hank Marvin and Sabbath. The on board effects are quite good so I don't use pedals. 8 type of effect....but I can only use a maximum of 2 of them simultaneously.

    Tuneomatic bridge problem

I think the issue is sorted folks. I've switched the D and G bridge pieces and it seems ok. Re applying the retaining wire was a tad fiddly but got there in the end.

    Tuneomatic bridge problem

Hey......I've just thought. Maybe this is the perfect time to try a wound g string on that butchered saddle slot.

    Tuneomatic bridge problem

I'm from Scotland and still see myself as being Scottish. And Scrogshaw is my online name. Apologies if I have used a Yorkshire name. I never in my wildest dreams did I think that Scrogshaw was a real surname. But I might have a hint of a Yorkshire accent......if that helps.;)

    Tuneomatic bridge problem

I used the edge of the wifes best metal nail file. It would have been perfect if I was working on the low E or A string slot......but just a little too wide for the G. Now I've got a dodgy bridge slot.......and an angry wife!

    Tuneomatic bridge problem

Thanks for your generous offer but I'll have a look online to see what is available. I might go down the replace single saddle rather than get a bridge route.

    Tuneomatic bridge problem

Hello all. I've got a problem with one of those individual bridge pieces in my SGs tuneomatic bridge and am seeking advice from you good folks. The g string was sitting about 0.25 mm higher than the e and b strings and like the complete idiot that I am, I thought that I could just file the v...

    Neck relief

How much relief do you lads n lasses have in your necks. I thought I was a pretty straight sort of feller....but thinking of putting a bit more on mine because I think it might make strings ring out/sustain more. I like to play through clean amp with reverb.

Hello and welcome.....from an old guy from Scotland.

All you folks who like to bend strings

Thanks for all af your advice. I so want to play this solo. So I'm going to go for it. I love my 'The Shadows' riffs.....but this is so old school rock and roll.

A bit like this feller playing.

All you folks who like to bend strings

I'm double stopping on the b and top e strings almost simultaneously on fret 5 while bending on the g string!

All you folks who like to bend strings

Hoots mon. What a terrible year. I hope that you are all keeping safe and getting through it. Now then.....my query. Is my fretboard too straight? I'm asking because I'm trying to play some 'old school' R&R guitar riffs (Mickey Gee / Shakin' Stevens style) but when I try to bend say the g...
