    SHOW US YOUR CUSTOMISED SG!

If it were me, I’d keep that SG as it is! Try the Vibrola on something else!

    Help identifying SG

It looks to be an SG Custom. I would guess the pickguard has been replaced and bridge rotated so it’s backwards.

    John Birch vs. Jaydee

Sorry, can’t comment on the differences in price/quality. I could be wrong, but I thought I’d read that John Carling retired recently and sold the John Birch company to Jaydee…

replacing mini humbuckers with p90’s. anyone done this?

I was under the impression we are dealing with mini humbuckers mounted in P90-type ring, not the rings you have. Like so:

replacing mini humbuckers with p90’s. anyone done this?

I thought the mounting plate was designed to be universal, so it can accept P90s as well as mini humbuckers…:hmm:

I'm new here, got my first SG!

Instead of nylon saddles, you might try some Graph Tech Tusq Saddles: Graph Tech Tusq Saddles

    SG Special Headstock

Not counting the ‘61-‘62 SG Junior, or course.

    High ratio locking tuners.

Perhaps these are the Klusons @MR D is referring to. https://sporthitech.com/products/kluson-3x3-revolution-e-mount-90deg-20-1-ratio-locking-tuners-nickel

Gibson SG headstock Logo and Crown alignment

Are you sure your Flying V has an ebony fretboard, @MR D ? I thought they were spec’d out for rosewood… (Mine sure looks to be rosewood.) Perhaps the factory put something on the fingerboard to darken it a bit before shipping. :hmm:

    High ratio locking tuners.

Keep in mind fellas that @JoeRockHead stated he has an SG Standard, so his guitar probably has Grover Rotomatics from the factory. I'm certainly not saying the Kluson Revolutions are a bad tuner, but they will not fit without modifications (i.e. at least one additional screw hole per tuning...

Gibson introduces new Faded Standard '61 SG

I hope @papagayo doesn't mind if I respond. It is one of the "dreaded" 2015 models in Translucent Ebony. Check it here: http://legacy.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2015/USA/SG-Standard.aspx I put dreaded because that was the year that Gibson forced all of their modern specs on the...

    Gotoh 510 wraparound bridge

I used to have a Billie Joe Armstrong Double Cut Junior with that bridge. I don't recall having "problems" with the stock setup, but the MojoAxe is a better design that doesn't look out of place. I think you'll be happy! :thumb:

Gibson introduces new Faded Standard '61 SG

I'm curious about these 60s Burstbucker pickups and how they compare to the 61R/T and old Burstbucker Pros...

    Gotoh 510 wraparound bridge

Gotoh makes excellent quality products. I've used their tuning machines on a few guitars, and they are some of my favorites! @Siamese Did you make sure the threads on the Gotoh mounting studs match your Gibson? If they don't, the stock bushings would need to be removed and the Gotohs...

NGD GIBSON FLYING V 70'S TRIBUTE

Thanks, D! Totally agree on the keystone buttons (and the Schaller S Locks)! And like you said, should I ever want/need to go back to stock, everything would be easily reversable. If you wanted to keep the Grover tuners and just change the buttons, Hipshot makes some replacements (they call...

NGD GIBSON FLYING V 70'S TRIBUTE

Yes, mine has a few modest modifications. I was going for a combination of looking more 70s period-correct and modern performance. Very happy with the results! FWIW, the Grovers are Ping Works. Not that they are bad, but I feel Gotohs are superior in every way. Same mounting footprint, but...

NGD GIBSON FLYING V 70'S TRIBUTE

Yes, sir! Mine was from Chicago Music Exchange and listed as used. Picked it up for about the same price as they were when originally released. The only thing I could find wrong with it was the bridge Volume "reflector" was broken. However, I had plans to change the knobs anyway. I'll post...

NGD GIBSON FLYING V 70'S TRIBUTE

For some reason, the "Exclusive" colors (Olive Drab and Ebony) didn't receive the last price hike. They're still at $2,199. I guess Classic White must sell the most.
