Hello my fellow SG fans. I just picked up one of these and it is magical. It's in the heritage cherry finish. I've had a few SG's in the past, but I don't recall any of them sounding as good as this one. It's in great condition, but the pickguard is a little messed up. It looks like someone tried to remove the protective plastic with a screwdriver or tweezers or something sharp. I don't mind the pick marks as I know that's what it's designed for, but I can't find one of these black-white-black-white bevel bat wing pickguards anywhere. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!
John

Thanks Papagayo! I emailed Gibson, but I'm not expecting much.

Please google Creamtone reviews first and go to their Facebook page before you order. Things have gone downhill for Lonnie and he appears to be having trouble filling orders and seems to be keeping peoples money. Just check it out before ordering.

Holy moly, thanks Colnago! I found one on eBay that looks like it should work for $43.95. I can't understand why I can't get the part from Gibson. I guess you need to be an authorized dealer or something.

Just saw a long thread, that linked to a couple more about this on the Gear Page. Sad, as I liked his stuff and was planning on getting a few things. I really dug his tort, it looked very nice. You've got some people saying they ordered last week and got their stuff, and some people who have been waiting a year, paid for it, and haven't gotten anything. I personally wouldn't take the risk.

I have a bunch of his parts on a few of my Les Pauls and they are top notch. It’s too bad that the service side of his business is so hit and miss now as there are other parts I’d like, not if I don’t get them after paying though.
It’s sucks as there aren’t too many people making this stuff for “reasonable” prices.

Thanks again. I ordered one from eBay. Hope it's a good one.

The Standard pickguard is 5 ply and the Special pickguard is 3 ply, I hope that you choosed the correct model.

Maybe contact him and see what’s what. There’s a good possibility that an unfair rumor has spread.

Yeah I definitely won't peel the plastic off until I'm sure it fits. Funny thing is, I wouldn't be replacing it if the previous owner didn't scratch it all up by the screw holes trying to remove the plastic. I don't know why he didn't just back the screws out a tad. I ordered these knobs too - https://www.ebay.com/itm/353956583444 - I'm not a fan of slippery knobs.

Nope, not an unfair rumour. I actually ordered my last stuff when he was having issues and it took 8 months and the threat of getting a chargeback to get my order. He gives you a tracking number, but doesn’t ship the stuff. He’s a nice enough guy, but crooked as a business person. I’ve called him a few times and it’s always the same thing, says he’ll ship it out right away and that my order is next in line to get filled. Hahaha!! Steer clear of this one.

From his Creamtone facebook, July 2021:

I apologize to every customer and friend that I've let down in the past months. I've been difficult to reach, slow to ship, and it's all on me. No excuses.
For those of you who may not know, CreamTone is not a big company. It's just me, Lonnie. I started it in 2013 when all I wanted was a little extra pocket money to buy guitars. Within 3 years, I quit my day job and started doing CreamTone full time. By 2019, I had a good team and we were kicking ass. Nashville was interested and big names like Vic DaPra were shouting our praises!
Then came 2020 and I found myself back in my garage, all by myself. By then, I was convinced I was a rock star and I could do anything, so I let too many orders pour in. I got by for a while but when 2021 came I got buried beneath the shear volume of them. I've also had a few interruptions in my personal life that my friends here know all about, but that's another story. I never missed one day of work, but I decided that my time was better spent filling orders than answering emails or phone calls. That was my biggest mistake.
It's so clear to me now that you don't mind waiting, you just want me to tell you it's all good. I fucked up royally. And that's as honest as I can be with you. I'm sorry.
I'm going to pick up the phone every time I hear it ring. Please don't email me. I'd much rather talk to you. 615.237.1908.
I appreciate every one of you! Your patience has meant the world to me. I'm not done! Not by a long shot.
Cheers!
Lonnie

I order a wide bevel pickguard for my SG '61 Reissue two months ago, I received the pickguard quickly, very nice part.
