1rst post here.i'm about to get some extra bonus from my work efforts.so i think i need one guitar more.i'm a fenderish guy for the most of my playing life.so ithnk a light sg with single coils will match with me easyer.but i have no idea whats about them.whats your voice about it?will worth the money?any model issues?does that stop tail gives a nice intonation with 11 gauge?thanks

If you search through some new guitar day (NGD) threads, you'll find that many people have been happy buying the 2019-2020 model SG Special. Very light, no frills, much love for the P90 sound. If you're used to a full, rounded "C" neck profile you might want to pick one up before committing as it has more of a "D" shape profile (a variation on what Gibson calls the "slim taper"), feeling a bit flatter along the back of the neck. As to 11 gauge strings, I assume you're playing detuned a step or more, otherwise it might (and I can't say 100% for sure) be a bit too much tension on the neck if tuning in standard 440, but, unless you really know what you're doing, I'd definitely advise get it set up by someone who knows what they're doing before trying something like that.

All of these guitars were originally designed with heavy strings in mind. 13 gauge strings with a wound 3rd were the norm back in the day. You’ll have no problem running a set of 11 gauge and it’ll intonate as good as a set of 10s, just need to move the tailpiece/bridge a bit to get there. Maybe widen the nut slots a little bit, try it first though.
That being said, don’t expect perfect intonation from a wraptail, that’s not what they are. They’ll get you close and that’s the charm of them. If you can’t handle that then don’t apply and seek full adjustability.
Rock n roll isn’t perfectly intonated.

An SG Special w/Single coils will do you right....of course w/P-90's being the pickups....yeah, you'll be ROCKIN w/the best of 'em.......Iommi and his fans will all tell you so......BTBT, if you are a Fender guy, just about any authentic GIBSON SG should/will make you a GIBSON fan !

I have a Gibson Les Paul Jr, the stock wraparound tailpiece give a perfect intonation with 10-46 strings but it' s possible to install a FABER® Wraptonate® bridge or other adjustable bridge.

There really is no need. Even a typical bridge won’t get you “perfect” intonation on a guitar. Perfect is impossible.

finaly i came home with this beautiful guitar in my hands. A very nice constructed instrument. Finish, binding, nut, frets all excellent. The board needed some more oil to come alive and a half of a turn of the truss rod made it butter. Really easy to play. The p90s suits my style very nice for '65-'75 things I'm playing.i did already a treble bleed mod and now i have to enjoy.thank you all for the infos
