Bad Reverb seller and no support from Reverb

I recently ordered a used, but in 'Excellent' condition Electro Harmonix Good Vibes pedal. I paid about the used market price for this pedal used.

When it arrived there was no power supply, so I messaged the seller. He responded that I should research the product I'm buying and just open the pedal and use a battery. Having previously done my research, I knew that this pedal is sold with a power supply and no facility to fit a battery. I informed the seller of this and also requested a refund with return shipping. The shipping cost was refused by the buyer and supported by Reverb. From the attitude of the buyer I now doubt I will ever receive a refund if I send the pedal back even at my own cost!

I fail to understand how an item can be classified as 'Excellent' when it is missing a necessary part. I should be able to unpack it, plug it in and use it right away! In my opinion this should have been listed as 'parts missing'.

Words of warning. If a power supply is not shown or specifically mentioned in an advert for a pedal, do not expect one to be included. Do not expect any support from Reverb. Do not expect any customer service from 'Synthetical Instruments'.

The listing is the key thing. Did that listing say the power supply was included? Did you specifically ask if a power supply was included?

The prevailing assumption is that pretty much everyone has at least 1, if not more, multi-pedal power supplies lying around.

If the pedal is one you really want/need and you got a good price..... I'd say you're better off dealing with it.

EH gives you a power supply for their pedals. If you sell it without the pedal, it should be noted in the advert. it's just common decency. File a claim with Paypal. it might take forever, but you should win.

The manufacturer defines what constitutes the product. If it has a power supply when he sells it, then it has a power supply. It's a component of the product, just as much as the knobs and sockets. If a subsequent seller doesn't have the power supply, he needs to specify that he is selling only part of the product.

Most unfortunate about your pedal...we are certainly living in desperate times on so many levels in our world.

I fully understand your frustration and lack of follow through with Reverb...A site I have purchased over 5 guitars from this month and a few amps from Europe. I had made and paid for a purchase of a mint
Epiphone SG pro 1966 limited edition Epiphone custom shop 2016 Ebony...so far no response after repeated messages...

The add stated that it ‘works great’. I would expect it to do so when it arrived, but not without making an additional purchase.

Unfortunately it seems to be the trend for pedals to not use batteries anymore and it's assumed everyone has a 1 Spot with a daisy chain ready to go. That being said, unless it needs a very particular power supply, it might be less hassle to just invest in something along the lines of the 1 Spot to avoid worrying about power supplies in the future.

Yeah that's a bummer, most pedals don't take batteries these days (but any money they come back in vogue at some point with claims of sounding better), and yes there is an assumption from some people of other solutions for powering your pedals. I think the best option if you don't have or want to invest in a power brick for all your pedals is to just order a 9V power supply online, you can get one for a few dollars and will be quicker and less hassle than trying to return the pedal.

One thing I may add as I learned about this with my Tube Screamer.

In case the OP or anyone doesn't know this, but it is important to make sure to get the matching polarity of a Power supply to the device, pedal, etc.

Plugging a Power supply with the + or - reversed to what your pedal etc calls for can mess up the device.

Ive already ordered a daisy chain power supply which will be here tomorrow. I was mostly trying to point out the deceptive nature of the seller and to warn others to ask the questions that I didn’t! The other thing was I really just wanted to cause Reverb as much aggravation as possible for their $5 commission bought about by their stupid policy.

Id call it more of an Assumption on your part.


Always a good idea to Ask all the questions before you buy something on reverb.

Any generic pwr supply will not work with the’Good Vibes’. It’s very particular about pwr. It needs about 9.6-almost 10 volts or you don’t get the effect. I thought mine was bad when using my iso brick at 9v no effect. Then I tried the pwr supply that came with it-bingo. Luckily the iso brick has a few variable voltage outlets so I tried that between 9-10 and it came to life. Do a little research and you’ll find this out. Great pedal otherwise.
