Do different SGs have different sized control cavity covers?

I bought a genuine Gibson one for my SGV project, but it's too small.

It's probably the knock off Chinese body I'm using but I was wondering if different models / years had different sized ones, and if so which ones have the bigger ones. If not I'll have to make one.

Thanks in advance.

I need one the trapezoidal shape of the top one, but the one I have (part no. PRCP-020) doesn't fit right. 20230103_113316.jpg

You could also just buy pickguard material make your own cavity cover.

I've done this on other projects I've done. It works great.

Use a heavy paper or thin cardboard to make a template, including the screw hole locations. Trace that onto the pickguard material, cut out the shape, and drill the holes. It's also a good idea to run some sandpaper along the cut edges to smooth them out.

To answer your question: Yes

Also Gibson parts mostly won't fit on non-Gibson guitars.

I made my own from a piece of Ebony headstock veneer.
I bought the "oversize" piece from stewmac, and had enough to make
several guitar parts, including switch washer, TRC and control cavity cover. I bought another one to make my batwing P/G for my 2012
Gibson SG special.

I did the cutting with a small hand saw with a NEW blade.
I drilled holes around the edges and connected the holes using the saw.
Then I did the final shaping and beveling with a Dremel tool.
Ebony splits easily, so you need to use care and finesse.

That's weird, I thought I posted links to several places like StewMac before Smitty posted. Sometimes I hit send and look 3 hours later and somehow it was still sitting there.

Yeah guys. I looks like it's going to have to be a DIY. I've already got some plastic from another project. Just have to find it, but another sheet won't break the bank.
