Any love or hate for these two models? Are they really improvements over the original design?

Other than the more aggressive lines on the ESP they're all pretty similar guitars.

similar construction etc..

I always loved Corrosion of Conformity and they used Vipers for ages!

I’d take a late 80’s to early 90’s S-1 Polara. Have to be cheap though.

Late post, but I have an ESP LTD Viper and it's awesome. Always loved the Les Paul, and assumed I'd be a LP guy, but found myself fighting it (after learning on an Ibanez RGA). Looked at both Schecter and ESP Single cuts, but really liked the look of the Viper. I found it to be much more user-friendly than my Epi LP, the neck is just about perfect for me, and it has just the right amount of heft without being a boat anchor.
