Fujigen has discontinued SG body type models

Not sure if this was already common knowledge, but I contacted Fujigen to see if they were still manufacturing any of the SG-body type models and they replied that they have discontinued all SG models with no plans for restarting production.

Interesting that you mention this. I myself have recently begun to wonder the same thing. I didn't really notice till after I got mine last year that I'm the only local dude with one. I live in a decently large city with a University and a vibrant local music scene, but SG's on stage are rarer than hens teeth. May start a thread on this, curious what others think and see.

Possible. Though it looks like the most recent SG copy they made was modified to not be a direct copy, with the bass horn longer and the treble horn shorter:

And they still make the LP style models, which have identical proportions, and just sharpen the horn:

I wouldn't be surprised if the redesign of the SG turned away most who would have been interested. The changes they made to the LP work better aesthetically.

I've never seen a modified SG shape I really liked. It's a fairly complex design and every curve was carefully considered. Changing even one thing completely throws it off, IMO.

Edit: It looks like the redesigned DC-10 came out in 2016:

I wouldn’t mind the LTD Glenn Tipton model, but most reproportioned SG types don’t look right to me. But otherwise, Gibson and Epi for me.

Nice! I was relating to my experiences with other local bands, as well as while on the road with my main band. I just haven't seen many guitarists with an SG locally, or regionally. Last show we played in New Orleans the guitarist for one of the other bands DID have an SG and I noted it. He's a good friend of mine and I've never seen him play it before. It was a very pretty sunburst Standard of some kind. I meant to ask him about it, but he was gone before I got my gear packed away. Maybe rare was too strong a word, perhaps unlikely would be better? On the road I see lots of Fender, PRS, and pointy Sci-Fi guitars, very few club level scratchers with an SG. Just kinda talking out loud, brainstorming why that is. Perhaps my experience is just a limited one and others see something different. (as an aside, there's probably more Peavey gear in MS than most anywhere else because Peavey was a "local" company. At one time you could literally drive to Meridian headquarters and say, "Hey my guitar/amp broke." And they would take it in the back and fix it while you waited! )

I doubt it. To much overlap in price with the USA models and Gibson has always used Epiphone for imports. They won't put the G name on an import. The FGN DC-10 was around $1300 when new. That's the same as a USA Special and very close to a USA Standard.

A Fla buddy of mine LOVES him some Peavey. Me too, only I am like most musicians, OUT of MONEY.

Seeing how infrequently they were produced, and that they're still trying to sell ones built in 2017 today, I think I can understand why they were discontinued.

That would be great! Burnys seem to be the biggest mystery due to the lack of serial numbers and multiple manufacturers.
