nice score

Thanks ! I have been hunting for this black one for a while. If I can find a red one I can complete the trio. Insofar as I am aware, these were the 3 color options availible. Ill put them head to head in a grudge match and post here!

those Grover Keystones on that thing ? love the looks of the Keystones

Those tuners do look great. The ones on the black '63 are by Gotoh Japan. On the white they simply say Made in Japan, these may also be by Gotoh but I cant say for sure.

I haven't a pic of the back of the tuners on the white but will upload tomorrow.

Nice!!
Good luck on fulfilling the trilogy.

Thanks! I may be waiting for a while, but when one does I'll be ready! If I haven't spent the funds on something else that is....!!!

Wow man, what a beauty!!! I like it even more than the white one. Is that an ebony board?

No, it's not ebony, but rosewood; Burny stained their rosewood a darker shade to give the appearance of ebony I guess, but thats not an issue for me, as these guitars play and sound great!! Thanks for the feedback!

Out of curiosity where did you see red as an option? I was looking through the 89-92 catalogs recently and they only show Black, Snow White, and White as options for the SG customs.

Apparently they were produced for at least a few years before they were ever included in a catalog, because you can find examples with the regular split diamond inlay that predates the first catalog they were shown in. Cherry Red was listed in the 1989 catalog, though it's very hard to make out with how pixelated it is.

@PermissionToLand here are some better pictures of the red one used as a reference on Solid Guitar Fandom. It looks legitimate to me but it’s the only red one I’ve seen pictures of so I thought it might be a one of prototype or custom order.
