IMO, REAL/LEGIT.......the missing DOT over the 'i' in the Headstock GIBSON logo......That dot disappeared for ONE YEAR ONLY......and.....that year was 1969 !....Dot Fret-Board In-lays w/Neck Binding, the 3 on-a-plate TM's w/White Buttons......A Special or whatever GIBSON called it that year.....So, yeah IMO its the REAL DEALIO....that is one I would have liked to find....IDK how much you are paying for it tho, that would stop me dead in my tracks, most likely....and it is also none of my business.I think so, but just to be 100% sure before shelling out the equivalent of 3 months' salary...Help much appreciated, thanks ppl! :-)

"We'd like to play three hit singles from our past for you" and it was 1970!Live at Leeds !
Actually, the logo is just about the only thing which got me questioning its authenticityLooks like a 1970 because of the block style logo.
My first SG was a 1969 SG Special.
It had the same heel as OP, but no block style logo.
Had a 1970 SG Standard with block style logo, same heel as the 1969, no volute, no Made in USA stamp.
Had a 1970 SG Junior with block style logo, shorter heel, no volute, no Made in USA stamp.
1969-70 was transitional year for features.
Exact year not that important, those 1969-70 SG Specials are my favorite except for the narrow nut.

The colour really grabs me on that one, HOT DAM...WOW !......I only hope you are going to play the $#!T out of it and not turn it into a museum piece..
Bro, if YOU want a 1969 GIBSON SG Special....You found it !I'm paying around 3700 bucks, give or take...And this is another thing which got me thinking re: its authenticity...What say you?
No way I'm gonna turn it into a museum piece...Guitars are for the playing!![]()
OMG, I might have one on you here C.B. ! An ETSG FIRST....Clue: The GIBSON Logo on the headstock is missing the dot over the 'i' in GIBSON. This has got to be a 1969 SG as the dotted 'i' in GIBSON only disappeared for one year and that was for production year 1969...OMG, this is one for the record books, yessiree...#OLY $#!T MON !Looks like a 1970 because of the block style logo.

BTW THE BY C.B. I am not gloating, I am actually STUNNED that YOU, of all the Detectives here at ETSG, missed that !
I had the same impression at first, but look at the B and O, they're not closed. For whatever reason, there seems to be variation in how blocky the outline is, before and after 1970.
OUCH that guitar met a nasty end..looks like that hurt whoever owned it....too bad ! the 1970 SG looks like it had the DOTTED 'i' and it was somehow removed as the top of 'G' was/is looks like it was too.....and AYK, with GIBSON there are always overlaps in model years for whatever reason w/different specs/parts .....and so it looks like the overlap continued from 1969 on into 1970 with the specimens you present.....AFAIK those years being the only ones where a GIBSON USA Solid Body Electric was minus the dotted 'i' in the GIBSON Head-Stock logo..for me the 'GIBSON' LOGO is an important clue in ID....i'm no expert tho.1969 was not the only year with missing dot over the “i”.
I present facts based on real life experiences, not books or internet lore.
Here's a few SG that I had in the past...

There's always exceptions to the rule. Note the open "b" and "o" on the 1970 SG Standard above. Pots were original with 1970 codes. No Made in USA stamp or volute either.
