Made my decision on an SG need some advice.

Can I ask why you are liking the Epi SG Custom, as opposed to a SG Special ?

In case it is pure aesthetics, were I in your shoes, I would go any play these two guitars and then make my decision...

I love the look of the custom and the Gibson SG Special is still a good bit more than the Epi Custom. Its not in my budget. The custom is only $629 at zZounds.

Maybe I am a bit thick, but I didn't get the impression he is joking...I've played some Epi's that are deadly good, but if you assume they are all junk out of the gate and never try them out you will never know. Play what you like, but I have never seen an Epiphone that wasn't at least capable and utilitarian.. The internet is full of people who will affirm prejudice and elitism of all sorts, The fact is that most posturing is about some misguided desire to be an "Alpha Dog" on the web and kick down on the rest of the perceived "pack". Most of us just find such behavior amusing or irritating in turns.

Everybody raves about the quality of the new Inspired by Gibson. Buy with confidence.
I had a LP Special P90 and it was up there as quality goes.
