I order a new set of genuine Gibson top hat knobs, the new knobs arrive with a mirror top like Custom Shop knobs.
Here is a picture,

The listing shows an opened package. That was my first clue.
The silver part reflects like a mirror instead of a brushed aluminum look (like every other new Gibson knob I’ve seen lately.) That was my second clue.
Looking from the bottom (listing photo) you can see the numbers on yours unlike the Gibson knobs I have..Third clue.
Your letters all read towards 0, new Gibson’s read towards 2…Fourth clue.
I actually did find some mirror like reflector knobs that point to 0 on Reverb but they are from Allparts…

I like knobs that go to 11... (at least on the volume).

I like plain black. no mirrors please. These are from Allparts.

I wish somebody made witch hats that go to 11.
I'm sure they'd give much better tone.

surely mine are made in china,
but they go to 11, so I don't care.

but seriously the most important feature of knobs is
whether they are for coarse knurling or fine knurling.

That determines whether they fit or not.
That's the only important issue about knobs. All knobs work fine.
A man could put tele knobs on his SG and no villagers would show up
with torches and pitchforks.

Me, I just like witch hats.

also, my guess is that all knobs are made in china. Gibson, Fender, Epi,
whatever. I don't believe there is a knob factory that still exists in USA.
Someone could surprise me by proving that there is.

...and what do we do with Witches? Burn them!
Seriously though, all good points. Also, I actually get along great with most Witches, even if they wear Tele knobs instead of witch hats.:D

I just received new gold genuine Gibson knobs and they fit perfectly but look a little different underneath. Slightly brighter color too. No problem, just fyi.
Original ‘05 LP right, new left..

I’m confused. Are people getting different knobs than what they ordered? Did Gibson change the look of their knobs without telling anyone? Did the latest production run get the knobs wrong? What’s happening with the knobs??? This is life altering!!! Help!

There was some obsession with older mirrored reflector knobs versus the newer brushed aluminum look. I noticed some other differences. Op seemed to think he found new Gibson mirror reflector knobs.

I just added the gold knob info for further comparison of old vs new. Mine came in Gibson packaging from an authorized dealer.

It’s just strange that we’re on here comparing knobs.
