One Method for Posting Images

What size for pics?

FYI - I just resized a photo (from my laptop photo album) to 750 x 562 (879 KB) It seems to work alright.
The original size was about 3500 x 2500 (10MB) I kept resizing until it was accepted in my post.

What am I doing wrong? I have tried to use images from my Flickr page but only this shows in the post

Confused...

• I can't embed images from Imgur directly in forum messages
  
• I can't create an album or add images to the media gallery
• The images I attach to messages have the wrong orientation

Am I correct in thinking that the only current way of posting an image is to attach a small image file to the message on the understanding it may appear at 90 degrees to how it normally appears?
