I would be stoked too. It looks like a pretty straightforward restoration, there shouldn't be too many possible hidden dangers to be found. The only thing better than seeing how yours turns out would be to be the one doing it myself!

as others, cheaper in particular, can have too weak of a flange so the comb angles the wrong way.

Also, some of the aftermarket Maestro-style repros don’t sit right on the guitar.

I agree and cannot stand the sight of them on any guitar.
Keystones look much better...
