I think ole' JC did a damn good job !
If he was the one that put a few tempting SG's on display at my local Guitar Center.
Then allowing them a little wiggle room in their pricing.
I ended up with a few really nice ones under his reign.
My 2018 SG hp II's are second to none !
A couple of new 2017 SG standards and a 2016 Firebird also keep them company.
I got a new Gibson for every day of the week.
Enjoy retirement, you deserve it !
Believe me, I worked long and hard for mine . . .

JC was a venture capitalist numbers guy. Personally, I'm glad to see a guy like that go. Cesar has a somewhat similar background, but is at least passionate about guitars and Gibsons. Look at his Instagram to get a feel for his personality or at least what he puts out on social media. Hopefully they stabilize these prices for a while (I know they sure won't lower them unfortunately).

I always find it funny when a new CEO comes to life at Gibson. The general opinion goes something like "Yay! he'll get the company back to where it should be!." for the first few months, he can do nothing wrong. Then at the end of his term "Yay! Goodbye, you QC sucks ass and the prices keep rising!" I wonder if Orville Gibson came back to life, if he would face the same "love"?

The CEO runs the BUSINESS. The stocks, keeping the investors happy, and all that what-not, that's his job. NOT to walk thru the factory every day to make sure there isn't dust in the paint room, or that the lumber is properly stored. his job is numbers. The plant manager is the one who's feet should be held to the fire.

He steered them through bankruptcy and a pandemic. And then, one fine day, July 14th 2021, my SG Junior was stamped.
Yes, 7-14…

Yeah JC did a fine job. CEOs change up pretty regularly at big companies. I got 10 Gibsons made between 2018 and 2022 and they're all keepers. Enjoy your retirement JC.

Ready for the good news? There are already enough 2nd hand Gibsons for sale that Gibson could fold this morning and there'd still be enough to go around for the forseeable.

As GIBSON emerged from Bankruptcy their prices went thru the ceiling ! Seems like 'Curly's (& the 'Stooges') idea to make GIBSON return to profitability was to make SG Standards for the price of a Les Paul Standard.....which is exactly what the SG '61 Standard cost today as compared to a 2017 Lester Standard. $2500 for an SG ! and peeps are buyin 'em......I'm just glad I havent been in the market for @ least 3 yrs now.......the SG Maestro I got was the only one I paid too much for....... and it was still $600 less than the SG '61 of today.

There prices on most guitars are comparable with American fenders. Then Gibson cheapened out with Shitty Soft Cases and circuit boards, and some spotty workmanship.

I've got a late 70's electra Les Paul it has a circuit board. I always thought that was a pretty cool idea.

I mean... you plug that guitar into a bunch of pedasl (full on circuit board) then into an amp and 99.9% of them have circuit boards.

there's always plenty to complain about... but Gibson's moves post juskowiscz have all been pretty damn good.

Come to think opf it, I've never had a single problem with a GIBSON Guitar that I bought new. I sent one back becauswe of the G-FARCE Thang, but that G-Farce thing worked perfectly, I just did not like it ! Other than that, I cant think of a single one of the them that had a problem, no.

Huh, and here I thought that the big title and big salary were justified by big responsibility. I guess the buck stops at the guy below you...

The CEO can fire and hire the plant managers, so...
