Turns out it's not easy to find a place that can make a wide bevel Cream/Black pickguard for you (and especially a matching tenon cover), but I was certainly glad when I did. I wanted 5-ply but apparently nobody even makes Cream/Black 5-ply material.

The cherry '61 has the stock Gibson CS pickguard and the black '61 has a Creamtone. I prefer the overall look of the CS. I honestly don't know which is more historically accurate but it seems like the vintage guards are closer to the CS with wider white layers and thinner black. I got some material samples from WD but they look thinner than the Creamtone. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has!

Here is the original pickguard from my 64 Standard. The former owner installed a third P/U and trimmed the guard. The P/U was removed before I bought the guitar and the rout was covered with black plastic. I decided to install a batwing guard to cover the rout.

Your Creamtone guard looks a little more historically accurate than my Creamtone. Mine is part of the "Classic Collection". Is yours the "Absolute Vintage Collection" version?

What is the bevel angle on these?

I had a CNC friend cut me a new one but I dont think the edges were as beveled as we anticipated.

Awesome comparison! Is the wide bevel slightly larger in some dimensions? Asking because I’d like to find a guard that better follows and fills out the contour of where the beveling meets on my ‘22 61 RI.
Thanks!

Dimensions are the same than the stock pickguard my Black SG 61 RI :

Ah yeah I see it now. The edge of the wide beveling hugs the screw a little tighter.
New guy here. Probably a tired question, but do you think the creamtone wide bevel guard would fill out the contour of the guitar horn’s beveling truer to what an actual ‘61 looked like? I kind of understand it’s a crapshoot, but I’m a man stuck with a ‘22 61 RI craving the real deal. Please help lol.
Cheers!
