Ah yeah I see it now. The edge of the wide beveling hugs the screw a little tighter.
New guy here. Probably a tired question, but do you think the creamtone wide bevel guard would fill out the contour of the guitar horn’s beveling truer to what an actual ‘61 looked like? I kind of understand it’s a crapshoot, but I’m a man stuck with a ‘22 61 RI craving the real deal. Please help lol.
Cheers!

The pickguard shape is the same, one simply has a deeper bevel cut into it.

Has anyone widened the bevel on an existing guard? If so, how did you do it?

Turns out it's not easy to find a place that can make a wide bevel Cream/Black pickguard for you (and especially a matching tenon cover), but I was certainly glad when I did. I wanted 5-ply but apparently nobody even makes Cream/Black 5-ply material.

PermissionToLand , where did you get the white (or cream) M-69 pickup rings?
I have a white pickguard, white tenon cover, white control plate and I need a set of M-69 pickup rings.

I actually found them at a local music shop. I can't recall the brand and I don't know if they are M-69 but I'd guess probably not.

Recociling the pickguard shape to the body contours of a Gibson SG is such a challange, that I wouldn't bother. My Gibson SG Custom has a little bit of overlap, which is said to be historicall6 accurate to 1964. The new ones from Gibson Custom, those are very neatly fit and finished. I will say, the new Gibson Custom 1961 and 1964 reissues are stunning examples, to be sure.

This is a 5-ply but it doesn’t seem to be a wide bevel. Or is it? IMG_8349.png

Ended up ordering one from both Creamtone and WD. I read that Creamtone can, ehm, take some time to ship, so we’ll see :)

Got mine from Dan at www.mojoaxe.com
You've got to email him to order. Paid $45 + shipping for mine on a Saturday and it was in my mail box on Wednesday. :thumb:
